The Folk and Artistic Group Herons of the Lakes is an association that aims to revive the traditions of the Landes culture with the dance on stilts.
Its name comes from the Heron, a large stilt bird associated with the region of the Great Lakes in the north of the Landes.
The Herons of the Lakes offer dance shows, where dynamism and performance symbolize these Landes stilt walkers. The association also offers to introduce you to the practice of stilts (from 6 years old).
Stilts, formerly used as working tools, have evolved into an unusual artistic activity that combines skill and performance. The stilt walkers intervene in dance shows, speed races, marathons...
The choreographies are realized by dancers on the ground, in the traditional Landes costumes of the XIXth century.
